From Michelle Malkin earlier this week, the Tuscon Unified School District is creating a race-based disciplinary guideline:
The board is calling for a two-tiered form of student discipline. One for Black and Hispanic students; one for everyone else.With the goal of creating a “restorative school culture and climate” that conveys a “sense of belonging to all students,” the board is insisting that its schools reduce its suspensions and/or expulsions of minority students to the point that the data reflect “no ethnic/racial disparities.”
This is outcome based education at its absolute worst! What good do they think they are going to achieve with this? Do they think they are actually helping these kids? Why is it that there is such a disparity between the number of disciplinary actions against white kids vs. kids “of color” (I hate that phrase)? It is precisely because of stupid plans like this.
From the section of the 52-page plan titled “Restorative School Culture and Climate,” subhead, “Discipline”:
“School data that show disparities in suspension/expulsion rates will be examined in detail for root causes. Special attention will be dedicated to data regarding African-American and Hispanic students.”
The board approved creating an “Equity Team” that will oversee the plan to ensure “a commitment to social justice for all students.”
So now they will have a race-based system of discipline? I see it like this:
“Oh, the poor little thing. He’s black, he can’t be expected to read”
“Oh, the poor dear. He’s Latino – of course he’s going to be in a gang”
Yes, I know, these may be extreme; but it is basically the same, isn’t it? They expect so MUCH less for these kids; they do not ever hold them accountable for their actions – of COURSE they are going to screw up. All kids need guidelines and boundaries; not pats on the head. It doesn’t matter one whit what color that kid is. What matters is what is ingrained in that child – morals, ethics, respect. But no, we can’t do that – it would be… RACIST.
So, now we have an entire school district that is pandering to the whole racist/racial thing, rather than pandering to the KID thing. If a kid screws up; deal with it as the “crime” demands. Don’t look at a list to see that, “since this child, who just busted another kid’s head open, is black, I must have him write 3 times on the board ‘I will not bash in Freddy’s head’ “. That ought to do it. Meanwhile, poor ole (white) Freddy is expelled for inciting a riot.
And these are the people who scream RACIST at US????
The perpetuation goes on and on.

About time we had equal outcome for all races.
However, the Skool Bode need to make sure MORE white boys join Gangs… and maybe organize more White Boy Gangs. They MUST make sure the same percentage of White Boys are in Gangs as other ethnic groups.
And, the same for White Girlz. Can’t have different Gender Outcomes.
I do notice that Tucson has no program to address discrimination against Inuits and Eskimos. BLUBBER POWER !
